Sandy Messaropoulou
My name is Xanthi Messaropoulou, although most people know me as Sandy. I am a mental health counsellor with postgraduate training in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, having completed my Masters degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Derby.
My core therapeutic orientation is Integrative Psychotherapy and I am also specialised in Cognitive Behavioural Clinical Hypnotherapy, with a Higher Professional Diploma Degree, an integrative therapeutic model that combines principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Clinical Hypnosis, as well as in Clinical Regression Hypnotherapy.
Throughout my professional development, I have completed further training in Mindfulness and Dream Interpretation. I am currently expanding my knowledge in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), with a particular interest in relationships, emotional attachment and the ways in which different parts of the self influence our experience.
I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), a member of the international professional body ACCPH, and a probationary member of the Hellenic Society for Women’s Mental Health.
In my therapeutic practice, I combine the scientific foundations of established psychotherapy with contemporary applied techniques and newer therapeutic approaches informed by current understandings of emotional neurobiology.
Meaningful change does not involve thought alone. It also relates to the ways in which the nervous system learns to regulate itself, experience safety and develop new ways of connecting with the self and with others. For me, therapy is a process of reconnection: with the self, the body and our relationships.
Above all, the therapeutic process is a relationship. It is not a quick intervention, but a journey built through respect, consistency and trust. My aim is to create a space in which each person can speak honestly, explore their difficulties safely and move towards change at their own pace.
Scientific integrity, reliability and empathy are central principles of my work, alongside a deep respect for each person and their unique life story. I am the founder of Hypnotherapy Clinic, a therapeutic practice created with the aim of combining high professional standards, contemporary therapeutic methods and meaningful human presence. Together with the clinic’s professional team, we share a commitment to providing comprehensive, ethical and high-quality therapeutic care.
I grew up in the areas of Peristeri and Petroupoli, with which I continue to have strong personal ties. I now live and work professionally in Peristeri, Athens.
My first degree was in Product and Systems Design Engineering at the University of the Aegean. The structured and systemic way of thinking I developed through those studies now complements my psychotherapeutic training and clinical experience.
I am also continuing my studies in Psychology at eCampus University, reflecting my ongoing commitment to education, professional development and personal growth.
